Underwater CCTV
Traditionally an underwater video
camera consists of an ordinary CCTV camera mounted in a stainless steel
or aluminium housing which keeps it dry and at normal atmospheric
pressure. This is still the only suitable system for some survey jobs,
where top quality imaging is required from a high value camera and/or
zoom lens. However, for the majority of underwater and contaminated
area operations this level of expense and complexity is unnecessary.
For these jobs we produce a range of simple, fixed focus video cameras
encapsulated in polyurethane resin for a fraction of the cost of a
conventional underwater camera. The small size and rugged construction
of these cameras makes them idea for use on ROV manipulators, and the
low price means that it can be cost effective to dispose of units
rather than attempting decontamination after operations in heavily
contaminated water.
We offer a wide range of camera light combinations - B/W
or colour cameras, with standard or wide angle fixed focus lenses,
choice of integral LED lighting or separate LED lighting units (white
for colour cameras, red or infra-red for black and white). Since all
our camera and light units are made to order, we can tailor them to
your exact requirements, and supply them with either an unterminated
cable, or terminated with your choice of connector.
The standard housing is 51mm diameter by 60mm long, and
consists of a 3mm thick GRP sleeve, with the camera or light source
encapsulated in high performance polyurethane resin within. Cameras
have an acrylic viewport, recessed by 5mm to minimise damage, and LEDs
are encapsulated in optically clear polyurethane. This method of
construction makes the units extremely rugged - during a recent chimney
survey one of our cameras was inadvertently 'drop tested' approximately
eight metres onto concrete, with no ill effect. Units are normally
depth rated to 20m, though deeper ratings are possible if required.
We also supply variable lighting controllers, power
supplies, cabling and connectors, video overlay and recording
equipment, and can install and commission systems on site if required.
As each system is built to the customers exact
requirements it is not possible to list specifications and prices.
